Biography

Attorney Christopher Peace (he/him) first worked in civil litigation, mental health services law, and as a county-level child welfare attorney before synthesizing these experiences into private child welfare law practice in 2017, with Dempsey Law since July 2021. Chris' practice is focused upon foster care system reform and foster parents' rights as well as representation of the whole spectrum of non-parents (including pre-adoptive parents) involved in attempting to provide care for at-risk and/or neglected or abused children. Having worked on the agency and mental health sides of cases like those his clients now encounter in private practice, Chris offers a unique perspective in helping clients navigate the processes and dynamics of agency investigations and court actions, aiding their understanding of terminology and practices along the way. Chris is a loving partner and parent of four children and a practitioner of various arts and crafts in his leisure time. His personal experience with trauma recovery from adverse childhood experiences informs his work and inspires his passion on behalf of families in pursuit of system reform and the best interest of North Carolina children.
